This is the latest and official socket which has a front plate that can be detached for problem diagnosis. The IDC connectors now have a push-fit design so you don't need to use a 'Krone' insertion tool. Has definitely improved my speeds by approx 20%. You will need to look on-line to work out how to make the connections, though this is not difficult if you have some knowledge of electrics.

This employs a clever design to disconnect it without the cabling moving, so it is easier to keep that neat/cable tied. Socket is good and and perfectly fitted ,Thanks for sending good products I had to fit a new telephone master socket as my builders had removed the one installed by BT/Openreach.

This is the same as previous designs but with them, the internal cabling came away with the front plate making it obvious. Very happy with this game changer purchase.

Excellent genuine part. It has 'cam-lock' wire connectors that do not require any tools. Had no idea how much RF noise affects broadband. Was suffering poor broadband speeds, freezing etc, Plusnet were no help, changed to new provider Zen who suggested change master socket as new type Master sockets (NET5C) have electrical noise/RF filtering built in, less than £14 and 15mins to install and my broadband speed went from 11mbps to 32mpbs.

Once it all clips together, it is a very solid fit. Well worth it for the money. Won't be much of a need for extension wiring soon though, with the analogue landline switch off in 2025 and the switch to VOIP. Data (non filtered) socket can take either an RJ11 or RJ45 depending on wht the cable to the modem/router is terminated with.

Worthwhile item to change if your broadband speed is suffering. The only downside is that it protrudes a couple of centimetres further from the wall than the earlier sockets, and I'm not keen on the sloping top edge, but that is being rather picky. This is very easy to fit.

It may not look like it, but the internal wiring (if used) is automatically disconnected when the front plate is removed, allowing testing of just the BT side cabling. Strictly speaking, you are not meant to fit the master socket yourself, although during the current lockdown, that is what BT told me to do!
